Notable New Features
The major new capability of Ehcache 2.5 is enhanced cache resource management, specifically the ability to set the maximum size in bytes of a Cache or CacheManager. This offers the following additional benefits to Ehcache users:
++ Ease of use. Tuning cache sizes is now as simple as setting the maximum number of bytes. No more setting maximum entry counts and juggling eviction parameters to approximate the maximum amount of system memory your cache can use.
++ Greater efficiency. Ehcache now efficiently manages caches based on their memory footprint and can dynamically balance their resource use based on runtime size information.
Please sign up below to join the Ehcache 2.5 beta program and download the beta software. http://terracotta.org/beta/

Jul 08, 2011 - Announcing the Enhanced MWS, CAF and Task Engine Community Site
Software AG is pleased to announce some exciting enhancements to the MWS, CAF and Task Engine Community site. These enhancements provide developers with quick and easy access to a dynamic library of technical information and enable them to collaborate with community members in new ways.
Enhancements include:
Additional technical content - The site now includes several new articles and tutorials relating to performance and localization, a new collection of 38 sample projects for MWS/CAF version 8.2.1, and over a dozen new videos about various features of MWS and CAF.
Wiki capability - Community members can now publish technical articles directly to the community or edit and expand upon articles that others have published. This new collaborative approach to information sharing enables community members to exchange best practices, lessons learned, and real-life experiences with one another. For more information about using the community’s new Wiki capability, see Adding an Article to the MWS, CAF and Task Engine Wiki.
Direct posting and sharing of sample CAF projects - Community members can also share their programming expertise and techniques using the community’s new collaborative code-sample feature. Similar to a Wiki, this feature enables members to post sample projects directly to the community site. Members can also edit or expand upon projects that others have posted. This exciting new capability enables CAF developers to quickly discover a solution to a particular programming challenge or explore alternative approaches to a certain use case. It also enables the community to more quickly share solutions to programming questions that community members raise in the user forum. For more information about the Wiki capability, see Submitting Sample Projects to the MWS, CAF and Task Engine Community.
“One-click” access to information resources relating to MWS, CAF and the Task Engine. With a single click, community members can now find links to training, user documentation, the Empower Knowledge Center and more. To access this new feature, click the Documentation button on the MWS, CAF and Task Engine community site.
These changes are the first milestone in an initiative to enrich the MWS, CAF and Task Engine community site with features and tools that enable members to collaboratively create and share content and to learn from the best practices and real-world experiences of other members.
Software AG would like to hear your thoughts on the new enhancements and receive suggestions about the direction in which you would like to see the community grow. Please share your ideas with us in the feedback thread located in the MWS, CAF and Task Engine user forum.

You will be happy to note that Software AG has revised its Peoplesoft Enterprise One adapter strategy based on your valuable feedback.
In our previous communication dated September 23, 2009, we notified you that the EOM date for the Peoplesoft EnterpriseOne adapter is set for October 2010 and also that we would be coming up with an alternate way to integrate with Peoplesoft EnterpriseOne. Based on the extensive feedback from customers and Oracle's roadmap on JD Edwards, Software AG is now pleased to extend the standard support for the Peoplesoft EnterpriseOne 8.97 and 8.98 adapters. The adapters will be generally available soon without an EOM date.
Software AG will continue to support these products beyond October 2010, and you may continue to send support requests to us.
As always, the PMM team is interested in receiving any related input to this subject from the field. Please direct your comments also to Suryanarayanan Nagarajan

Jan 31, 2010 - Software AG is pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of Optimize for SAP 8.0 SP1
The highlights of this release include:
• Taking the webMethods centric view to SAP business processes... By representing events from a SAP business process as adapter notifications at the webMethods platform, the SAP events can be represented as receive steps that will be managed by the Process Engine.
• All Optimize for SAP monitoring will be done via the Process Engine... By uploading the business process for execution and letting the SAP Process Monitoring Agent talk directly to the Process Engine, it is now possible to embed SAP business process steps into an overall business process orchestrated by the Process Engine. Additionally, the already available functionality of Receive Steps, like selecting a correlation service and specifying logged fields, will automatically become available in Optimize for SAP scenarios.
• Support of event parameters... SAP events can have additional parameters defined with them. By supporting these parameters it will now be possible to monitor business data stored in the SAP event parameter.
A detailed list of features is found in the release notes and documentation for the product.

We are pleased to announce the release of webMethods ApplinX version 8.1.
ApplinX is the tool to Web and service enable virtually any screen based application on Mainframe, BS2000, AS400, UNIX, Fujitsu, Hitachi and Tandem computer.
One of the version 8 features to be highlighted is the new Eclipse development environment, which is now integrated into "webMethods Designer".
What else great new functionality is in this version for you?
Import of Host Maps:
ApplinX can now import screen format definitions such as BMS, MFS and SDF. Also, an XML based format is supported. The SDFX format can be used to convert unsupported map formats which can then be loaded into ApplinX.
These imported maps can be used to easily create ApplinX screens. All fields are created automatically. Screen identifiers can be more easily defined and it's easier to distinguish between static text and output fields.
This improves developer productivity, reduces ApplinX maintenance efforts if screens change on the mainframe and increases robustness of ApplinX applications.
Dynamic field mapping:
Now fields can be identified by position on the screen and also by the name of the leading label.
This increases robustness during production time. When a field position changes on a host application screen, ApplinX will detect the field independent of the new position. Screens can be handled where the layout depends on the data to be displayed.
VT support:
ApplinX SOA edition allows service enablement of (character based) VT applications.
These legacy applications can be modernized by making them available as Web services.
Screen identification using general screen definitions:
It is no longer necessary to mark fields on every screen during the screen identification process. The ApplinX developer can define areas on the host application screen, which ApplinX can leverage during the screen identification process. Three identification modes provide flexibility to either detect a screen automatically, sem-automatically or manually.
Hitachi terminal protocol support:
ApplinX now supports Hitachi, a common hardware environment in Japan and other countries in the Far East. It’s available for Web and Service.
Currently version 8.1 has the status "controlled release". Beginning of December 2009 we will announce general availability (GA). Then it will be made available to all ApplinX customers.
The good news is you don’t need to wait until then. Watch out for an announcement in the ApplinX forum. A free 8.1 test version can be downloaded in a couple of days by Community members only.

We are in deep mourning for our colleague Helmut Bauer who passed away on February 11 2009.
His efforts are the base for the success we have with the Developer Communities, CentraSite Community and discussion forums. Most of the features and services we are taking advantage of today were initiated by Helmut. Until his last days at Software AG Helmut did the utmost to support us with all his expertise. He leaves a big hole and we miss him as skilled colleague, as well as a great person. Because of that and of the fact that his footprint is on most of the things we are doing, we dedicate our work to him.
We will always remember him. Angelika Siffring

- Updated Business Process Models, including eight new business process templates for supporting 1-action and 2-action PIPs asynchronously and synchronously, for both RNIF 1.1 and 2.0. These templates make it easy to implement all of the RosettaNet PIPs in webMethods Designer.
- Improved large file handling, enabling you to more easily send, receive, and process large RosettaNet documents.
Jun 25, 2007 - Community Discussion Forums back on-line!!
We have finished the upgrade to the Developer Community discussion forums and the Adabas, Natural, EntireX, Tamino and Crossvision forums have been merged into one single forum system.
Please note:
If you had URLs bookmarked or stored which point to individual forum categories or individual forums we will re-route these automatically to the corresponding new system but if you have URLs which point to an individual thread topic then this will no longer work. (Note though that references to posts within the forum system itself will continue to work correctly as they will be updated as part of the merge process).
You will now only be able to log into the forum system with the e-mail address you supplied when you registered. Your passwords will be carried over from the old forum systems and if you were previously registered with more than one system then you will be able to use any of them to logon to the new consolidated system.
We will now also check and update any reference to the forum systems within the Developer Community, but if you find any links which do not seem to work or if you have any problems with the new forums system, please do not hesitate to contact us.
