Logging On
Q: I've downloaded and installed CentraSite. When I open up the browser, it asked for a username and password. I tried DefaultUser with its password, but it did not work. How do I log in? How do I log in to CentraSite Control?
A: After installing CentraSite, only the user that installed the software is an authorized CentraSite user.
In general, users that are part of an active directory domain need to add their domain prefix to the user id, separated by a backslash. So, user John from the ACME domain would log on as:
ACME\john
Please be aware that at the time of the logon a connection to the domain controller is required. If this is not feasible at all times, we recommend that you use a local user for logging on to CentraSite.
The following may also help.
Do you see a log-in screen or is log-in done automatically?
- If you see a log-in screen, please use the userid and password that you provided on the log-in screen also to log into CentraSite and the System Management Hub.
- If you do not see a log-in screen, you have to find out what user you are normally logged in with. Click on Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and see what you have. The account needs to have a password if you want to log into CentraSite, so please set one there.
Platforms
Q: Which operating systems/platforms does CentraSite run on?
A: This downloadable version of CentraSite runs on Windows XP Professional and Windows 2003 Server Standard or Enterprise Edition. It does not run on Windows 2000 Server.
Other platforms can be made available on an individual basis.
